Our Experience With Polaroid Lenses

We were lucky enough to enjoy a trip to Chamonix in the French Alps this year. What a perfect opportunity to try a pair from our Maui Jim Polarised Sunglasses Range! These amazing shades block 100% of harmful UVA and UVB rays while eliminating 99.9% of glare.

I had a non-prescription pair of Maui Jim Sunglasses and our dispensing optician had Maui Passport Prescription Sunglasses that gave her all the great benefits of a regular Maui Jim combined with a custom prescription.

We took a cable car from Chamonix to Aiguille du Midi a mountain in the Mont Blanc Massif, at a height of 12,605ft. Temperature was -10 degrees! Couple this with a wind chill -21 degrees and you can see why warm clothing and protection from very bright sunlight was essential.

Snow is highly reflective and UV intensity increases the higher you go. Maui Jim promised to provide more vibrant colours of the world while protecting our eyes from the harsh effects of glare and harmful rays. With claims like that we had high hopes and I have to say, we were both blown away!

The difference in detail and clarity we could see wearing these were unbelievable. We watched mountaineers and skiers on the extremely exposed ice ridge to descend to the glacier below.

We wondered who bought the one-way ticket's! What a fabulous experience, it is safe to say we had a wonderful time.
